King Kong - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
King Kong (2005) is a 2005 American computer-animated adventure film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by 20th Century Fox, and features the voices of Jessica Lange, Jeff Goldblum, Orny Adams and others. The story revolves around Kong, an anthropomorphic gorilla who spends most of his time in the mountains. During a visit to New York City, Kong hears the sad story of Jessica Lange's character, Ann Darrow, and inspires her to try and save the species in the face of an impending asteroid collision. Written and directed by Peter Jackson, the film also features the voices of Mark Addy, Andy Serkis, Ed Harris, Dominic Purcell, and Jason Alexander.
Plot:
While in New York, Kong and his friend and fellow ape, Ann Darrow, are captured and taken to the Empire State Building by hunters. The couple are dropped into a giant elevator and dropped to the ground. They are accidentally brought back to the elevator where the hunters are standing and Kong punches and destroys their car. Kong's friend, orangutan Bernard, is accidentally separated from Kong, and he reunites with him. A hunter attempts to shoot Kong but he flees the scene, while Ann Darrow stops the hunter from using her to stop the asteroid that is coming into the Earth's atmosphere. Kong and Ann Darrow leave the hunters behind, and find a huge hole that has been dug under the Empire State Building, in which the asteroid has been trapped. Kong discovers a scrap of paper with a newspaper article, that tells of a giant gorilla in Africa that has been breaking into the skyscrapers of New York and London. Kong's friends ask if it's true, and Kong agrees that it is. Kong goes to the Empire State Building's ledge where the hunters are, and leaves them behind.
The duo find a sewer, and they enter an underground stream. Kong comes across a scientist who is interested in the work done by Kong in New York City, and he tells Kong that it is the most intelligent ape he has ever met. Kong is surprised to learn that the scientist has set up a camp in the sewers where he uses bees to make honey. Kong brings back some honey for the scientist, and he likes it.
